2004Cumberland organized in Nashville, Tenn. Started client work providing various services in a number of industries. Finished the year with 11 full-time client-serving personnel.
2005Client base expands. Healthcare work increases. Headcount grows to 25.
2006Increased focus on implementation work for healthcare providers. Increased headcount to 31.
2007Healthcare provider client-base grows. Full-time client-service headcount exceeds 40.
2008Cumberland recognized as one of Consulting Magazine's Best Small Firms to Work For. Administrative offices move to Brentwood, TN. Growth continues - headcount tops 50.
2009Cumberland identified as one of Consulting Magazine's Seven Small Jewels of the Consulting Profession. Headcount increases to 76.
2010Third consecutive year being recognized by Consulting Magazine as a Best Small Firms to Work For. Revenue increases >100% over 2009. Headcount passes 100.
2011Named Best in KLAS for IT Planning & Assessment in 2011 Best in KLAS Awards: Software & Services report. Third consecutive year as one of Inc. Magazine's 5,000 Fastest-Growing. Corporate headquarters moves to Franklin, TN. Headcount reaches 150.
2012Cumberland receives private equity investment from a group of investors led by Tailwind Capital Partners. Headcount reaches 170. Highest rated Meaningful Use consulting firm by KLAS. Named to Healthcare's Hottest by Modern Healthcare. Fourth year as a Best Small Firm to Work For and on Inc. 5000 list.
2013Cumberland and Mindlance Life Sciences merge to serve clients across the healthcare industry. CEO Jim Lewis named a Top 25 Consultant by Consulting magazine. Cumberland receives its 5th recognition on Inc. 5000 list. The firm is recognized as a Best Place to Work and a Best Small Firms to Work For by Modern Healthcare and Consulting magazine.
2014Cumberland celebrates 10th anniversary and acquires Cipe Consulting Group, expanding service offerings to include specialized staffing resources. Headcount reaches 268. Consulting magazine honors Cumberland for Excellence in Social & Community Investment and names Partner Jeff Lee a Top 25 Consultant. Cumberland is once again recognized as a Best Places to Work by Modern Healthcare. Cumberland is included on the Inc. 5000 list for the 6th year in a row and receives its 4th HCI 100 recognition.
