NASHVILLE, Tenn. (January 27, 2014) – Cumberland Consulting Group, LLC announces the promotions of Mike Penich and Greg Varner to partner. Previously, both Penich and Varner served as principals for the company.

“Adding Mike and Greg to our leadership team will help us reach our strategic growth goals, while continuing to provide exceptional service to our clients,” said Jim Lewis, managing partner and CEO of Cumberland Consulting Group. “Mike has made significant contributions to Cumberland’s success in complex technology implementations over the past decade and will continue to do so as partner. Greg will be instrumental in leading our efforts to expand our offerings to post-acute care providers.”

Mike Penich

Penich joined Cumberland in 2004, shortly after the company’s inception, and specializes in project management, systems analysis and design, requirements gathering and management and large group facilitation. He is experienced at managing complex technology projects for a variety of providers, including hospital systems, correctional health providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers, healthcare insurance and managed care organizations. Penich holds a Bachelor of Science in Operations Management & Information Systems from Northern Illinois University and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI). He is also a member of the Healthcare Information & Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

Greg Varner

Varner, a registered nurse with more than 22 years of experience in clinical healthcare delivery, is an accomplished healthcare IT and consulting executive with demonstrated success in healthcare information technology initiatives, including large acute care clinical system design and implementation projects. Varner’s extensive experience also includes revitalizing troubled projects and successfully obtaining clinician engagement and adoption of new systems, in addition to clinical system technology implementation, clinical workflow redesign and revenue cycle improvement. Varner holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is a member of HIMSS and PMI.
