The Nashville Business Journal recently recognized Cumberland Consulting Group as one of the 25 fastest-growing private companies. Following is an excerpt from Alison Nash’s Q&A with CEO Brian Cahill. The piece appeared in the print edition of the Nashville Business Journal on Friday, September 18. What is the biggest/best perk you’ve been able to offer your employees that was previously unattainable? We’ve been able to better fund our employee engagement groups, allowing our employees opportunities to engage with the communities in which they work.

Please list three areas your company has grown in the past three years. 1. Employees. We’ve been able to attract very talented individuals after being named a Best Place To Work by a variety of industry publications. 2. Clients. Our client list has continued to grow, accelerated by the fact that the quality of our services has been recognized by leading industry research organizations. 3. Markets. With the acquisition of Mindlance Life Sciences in 2013, we were able to create our Life Sciences Services division, which diversified our client base to include pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device manufacturers.

What specific decisions have helped you achieve your fast-paced growth? Diversifying our business by entering into the life sciences market and the decision to stick to our roots and stay true to being a trusted health care advisory firm.
