Pharmaceutical Contract Management and Regulatory Software Evaluation
The Challenge
Our client was in the commercialization stage of offering branded pharmaceuticals to retail and government customers. In order to prepare for the challenges of administering these agreements and complying with governmental reporting requirements, they enlisted Cumberland to perform an evaluation of available tools for commercial contracting, as well as Medicaid and Government Pricing.

Cumberland assisted the company in the following over the course of an 18-week effort:
Planning Activities
- Developed scope and timeline for all phases of commercialization including system evaluation, procurement and implementation
Discovery Activities
- Discovery and development of complete functional and technical requirements, including architectural standards, performance standards, report requirements and government pricing policy definition
Evaluation Activities
- Created RFPs for vendor response
- Developed and issued demonstration data for all vendors’ use in demonstration including:

- Historical Price Data
- Contract Pricing Data
- Conducted detailed product demonstrations with vendors
- Scored Functional and Technical Responses to RFP

- Recommended vendor solutions to client
- Developed risk assessment and business case for solution

Results
Our client was able to make an informed software purchase from an established vendor and begin the implementation with a go-live date in concert with their commercialization efforts. Our evaluation and recommendations enabled them to ensure their business and technical requirements were comprehensive and met by the chosen software provider.
