The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) also known as the Stimulus Package, was signed into law February 17, 2009. The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH), is part of the ARRA legislation. The funding and guidelines for HITECH are defined in Division A – Title XIII and Division B – Title IV of the law. The oversight authority directing use of the funds will be the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). This presentation examines questions, concerns and rumors about the “who, what, when and why” of HITECH. |
