Cathy Matteson is responsible for the development and implementation of all human resources plans and initiatives across Cumberland. She has nearly 20 years of experience in human resources, specializing in regulatory compliance, employee relations, and policy design and administration.
In her role at Cumberland, Cathy develops policies and practices, as well as ongoing assessments to guide company operations. She oversees onboarding, compensation and benefits, employee relations and training, and employee engagement initiatives.
Prior to joining Cumberland, Cathy served as the Director of Human Resources at Saint Thomas Health Services, the leading faith-based health care system in Tennessee with a family of nine hospitals and a physician-led medical group. Saint Thomas Health is part of Ascension, the largest non-profit health system in the U.S. and the world’s largest Catholic health system. During her 14-year tenure at Saint Thomas Health, Cathy held several human resources positions and served as a key member of the hospital executive leadership and strategic planning teams.
Cathy holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and is an active member and past president of both the Tennessee Society for Healthcare Human Resources Management and the Middle Tennessee Society for Healthcare Human Resources Management.
